For the second-straight year the Fabius-Pompey boys soccer team is going for a sectional title.

With two goals from Ben Rotondo and another score from Stewart Wright, the Falcons topped Manlius Pebble Hill, 3-0, in the Section III Class C boys soccer tournament on Tuesday.

“The biggest reason we are back here is the 14 seniors that we have,” Fabius-Pompey head coach Matt Neuner said. “They have bought into what we are trying to accomplish. They have been unbelievable leaders as well. It can be tough to have that many seniors if they become unfocused, but they have to get all of the credit in the world.”

Conor Larkin and Adrian Vilardi both had assists in the win while Nate Scalisi and Kory Mawson combined for the shutout in goal.

Ryley Amond made eight saves in the loss, while Max Overdyk had a pair of stops for MPH which finished the season 10-7.

Fabius-Pompey faces West Canada Valley - a 2-0 winner over Hamilton on Tuesday - in the sectional final on Monday.

Last season, Fabius-Pompey beat MPH in the sectional final, 1-0, before the Falcons lost to Lansing in the state tournament, 3-0.
