All season long the No. 2 Fabius-Pompey boys soccer defensive unit has kept opponents out of their goal. The Falcons have given up just three goals all season, but were faced with a stiff challenge when facing No. 6 Mount Markham in the boys Class D semifinal. The Mounties are led by the section's leading scorer in Tyler Plows.

In the end, the Fabius-Pompey defense came through again with a 2-0 win and will next play No. 5 Manlius Pebble Hill in the Class D final. A date and locations have yet to be determined.

"I have to give a lot of credit to our defensive unit," said Falcons coach Matt Neuner. "Tyler Plows is an excellent player and they held him to just one shot tonight."

The Fabius-Pompey defense is led by Chase Breed, Ben Kogut, Kevin Wheatley, Ryan LeRoy and goaltender Matt Perry.

The Falcons (16-2) scored in the first half when Tristan Rapp scored his third goal of the season. Ben Kogut added an insurance goal, his fifth, in the second half and the defense held from there.

The next task will be for Fabius-Pompey to try and defeat Manlius Pebble Hill for a third time this season. The Falcons scored a pair of 1-0 wins in their games earlier this year.
